  1. Sugar Land’s 3rd Annual Cultural Kite Festival

We’ve all been told to “Go fly a kite,” but the city of Sugar Land encourages it in a big way. This will be a great March shoot.

Let’s meet up for breakfast at Denny’s 6131 Hwy 6 S, Missouri City, TX at 8:30 for a quick bite and then head over to the parking lot where there will be shuttles available to take us to the park.

There are contests for largest, smallest, most unusual, most colorful and highest flying kites. Other entertainment includes walk-around characters such as Ben Franklin, who will provide stories on the history of kite flying and its connection to the discovery of electricity. Cirque style performers and stilt walkers will also roam the meadow enticing the crowd with their visual artistry and movement. Face painting and henna tattoos will also be available for children who want to partake in the festivities. There will be cultural performances from local groups, which should provide colorful attire and probably dancing.

Full book will be discussed at this 1st meeting. This concise, insightful history has never been out of print since it was 1st published. Why? “Every time it has been about to pass from print,” Galbraith himself wrote in 1997, “another speculative bubble … has stirred interest in the history of this, the great modern case of boom and collapse.”
